Steve
is a friend from the ‘hood. There was a time when,
on any given Friday night, you could find us at the bar
on smith and sackett. It was fun.
This piece was written on September 11th 2002 -- I love
it because it speaks to the small ways in which we keep
going. Steve was within blocks of the Towers when they
were struck; Steve still works 3 blocks away from the
site. |

Hey
Jamie, I loved what you wrote before.. Oddly, I can't recall at all
what I did on Sept. 10th, 2001...
I know I was at the Yankees/Red Sox game with my Dad and brothers
on September 9th and had a blast. It was the first time in over 10
years that all of us saw a game at Yankee Stadium together...My brother
Tom scored these amazing indoor/outdoor box seats that came catered
with hotdogs and beer. We shared the area with this corporate big-wig
and his family. He and my Dad got to talking about their jobs and
the guy told my Dad that he was supposed to go on a business trip
overseas but was advised against it because of warnings about American's
security abroad...eerie right?
Anyway. Would you have dinner with me and then we can tackle your
bookshelf project? I would greatly like that.
Hope your day is going well. It's so weird down here. I've had some
flashbacks- totally shocking...I really didn't think I was going to
have them, but I guess it's inevitable with all that's happening today.
It's a part of the collective consciousness and it's inescapable...
Looking forward to meeting your babies, |
