I went to college with Dori and her former roommate mentioned below, Vaughn. Today they are both safe and sound in San Francisco, though no longer roommates. Dori is now a probationary firefighter/paramedic
in Berkeley, CA and Vaughn is still working for United. I haven't seen Dori since my first year in New York and haven't seen Vaughan since college, but we still have a lot of friends in common and I have promised to visit them soon!

Regarding Sept. 10, 2001, and eventually Sept. 11, 2001...I remember talking to Vaughan from Paris and having him tell me that he was coming back to the US the next day on standby either via DC or NYC. I was excited to hear about his trip and looking forward to him coming home...we were roommates at the time. Vaughan was and is still a United Airlines flight attendant who travels a lot for work and on his off time. I was a typical white-collar worker but not quite. I was training for triathlons before work, working in my office during the day, and planning my next career move at night. I wanted to be a firefighter/paramedic. It had been bugging me for years but this time, I was going to do it.
